The whole concept of this site is in line with my ideas and thoughts that I have gained throughout my lifetime so far (40 years). I spend a lot of hours developing and managing this site/Forum with no financial gain. Here is the background:

Some 10 years ago I held the position of Sales & Marketing Director for a local radio station in the UK. As part of this position I was responsible for all radio advertising sales and product marketing for the company. Part of running a Sales & Marketing department in a radio station involves setting up and managing contradeals with local potential advertisers. Usually this involves offering free advertising to companies that are prepared to offer something in return. I was very soon nick named “contradeal Guy” as my contradeal successes grew beyond local companies I moved onto national based companies offering anything from Gadget prizes to over £1000 in cash prizes in return for advertising space.

I started out 5 years ago with the idea of forming a company to consult on best practices when putting together contradeals and to also help local radio stations to further their contradeal potential. It suddenly occurred to me one day whilst trawling through the local yellow pages to find potential advertisers to set up contradeals with; “Wouldn’t it be nice if there were a web site or directory that contained companies or individuals that are already interested in doing contradeals.” Furthermore wouldn’t it be nice if I could see who was interested in what and maybe contact them via this medium?

Within two years I had registered the contradeal.com domain with a view to setting the directory up. Unfortunately owing to the birth of my son and the advent of other priorities I had to put it on hold. It wasn’t until a couple of months ago when a colleague of mine asked if I knew of any cheap plasterers or anyone who was up for doing some sort of contradeal that I started putting into action my original plans.

Here is the Concept:

Lets say you are a carpenter looking for some IT help with your PC at home. You need the work done but do not want to have to pay lots of money to do so. Lets say I am an IT guy (Which I am I hasten to add) that needs a couple of doors hanging, Id love to do it myself but do not have the skill or time to do it right. The aim of this site would be to put you and I in contact with each other so that we can work out some sort of contradeal where we both get the work done but no money has changed hands...Get it yet? Good!

Here's another good bit....You do not even need a trade to join this site, even if you simply have spare labour time to offer you can still join and offer your time in return for specific services or somebody elses spare labour time.

This concept is not a new one it has been going on for years between friends/colleagues and business associates it's just that it has always been the case of someone saying 'I know a man that can' and or you being in the right place at the right time.

The aim of this site is to put individuals or organizations in contact with each other. Treat it like a portal of 'contradeal' contacts if you like.

Initially the site was to be set up as a full Database driven member site. After several months of investigating costs/hosting and logistics oh, and not forgetting the legal aspect of it all, I have decided to run this as a completely FREE site controlled by a 'FORUM' based database.

Here is how it works:

Click on the link at the top of this page that says '****ENTER THE FORUM HERE**** '. Register yourself within the Forum. You will receive an email containing the username and password details you entered. The 'FORUM' administrator (Me) will authorize your membership. Once your membership has been authorized you will receive a further email informing you that you may now use the service. It is STONGLY recommended at this point that you read the 'member information' topic before continuing to use the 'FORUM'. Once you have read and understood the membership information, find the category that you would like to start or reply to a thread in and away you go. It's as simple as that!!!

REMEMBER IF YOU CONTACT A MEMBER AND THEY SAY NO TO A CONTRADEAL, IT MEANS NO, PLEASE RESPECT OTHER MEMBERS AT ALL TIMES!!!
